Writing Songs ...

... is a great joy and creative outlet.  Trying to keep things fresh and varied is always a challenge and some listeners have noticed some recurring themes in my songs.  Have a listen and let me know what you think in the comments box below.

Old Favourite - New Recording

Going through an old book of song ideas, I found a Post-It note with the words "Something Like Fine" scrawled in my handwriting.  It struck me as a strong lyric.  A walk on the beach, some personal reflection and the application of my then fairly rudimentary guitar work, and the song was born.  It has evolved over 20 years and the message remains true.

New Music!

This song originated from from a place of having no idea what to write.  So to break the block I started writing a song about the song that I was writing.  Makes perfect sense really ...

From The Vault

There is a small graveyard on South Road, St Mary's where one tall gravestone peeks over the top of the fence.  When driving past, my eye was always drawn to the name "Joseph Wood" and my mind would wander.  This song imagines the life and trials of 'my friend Joe'.
